History of Valor K9

Valor K9, Inc. officially became a non-profit incorporated business within the State of Texas in 2013, and it is our goal to continue to give back time and expertise to provide an improved situation for our Veterans and First Responders, helping those who serve us and our country – .

Valor K9, Inc. began as a dog training program, originally under the name Sundowner Dog Training. Founded by Teresa King, the focus slowly moved from personal training and dog handling in canine sports to location services of working dogs for the military and detection dog companies, and now Valor K9 strives to meet the needs of our Veterans and First Responders with regard to canine companionship. Valor provides pet therapy visitations, crisis response canine support, and classes to train new therapy dogs; when requested, Valor K9 also handles minimal-use service dog training, or consultations for service dog fine tuning; and supportive care of service dogs for our US Veterans and First Responders. The public is not forgotten, and fun and exciting classes are often still available for the general population as well, when scheduling permits.

As the United States becomes more involved with the war on terrorism, and many family members and personal contacts are affected on different levels by current events, Valor K9 is working more closely with Therapy Dog Affiliations to gather Registered teams to work in this sector. Teams can be sent for single visits, ongoing therapy, memorial services and funerals, parades, and celebrations. Teresa King and her dogs are also available for speaking engagements to explain the differences between Service Animals and Therapy or Comfort Animals, and to tell of the non-judgmental therapy, the potential benefits, and stories of these amazing dogs.
